Cold Steel request: How would things go for Sara if she introduced her spouse to Class VIII, revealing that she is actually married?

(ToCS) Sara introducing her spouse to Class VII

The moment Sara opened her mouth to reveal S/O as her spouse, it sealed both of their fates.

(S/O) "It's nice to finally meet the class that Sara taught! She didn't give you too much of a hard time, did she?"

(Sara) "Wha-Hey! Why do you automatically assume I caused problems?!"

(S/O) "Because I know you, Sara."

Rean was the first to step up, chuckling and rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

(Rean) "Hah, Sara was an amazing instructor. Though, I don't need to be the one telling you that she was also a handful."

(Sara) "HEY!"

Class VII is genuinely glad that Sara can have someone that can anchor her down and call her own.

That being said, the fact they're with Sara means S/O is absolutely fair game for any teasing by them, and by the Goddess they are relentless, just as much as Sara is towards them.

(Alisa) "It's also good to know our dear Instructor will actually have someone to look after her."

Needless to say, it goes well and terribly at the same time. By extension, S/O now treats Class VII as if they were their own kids, which Sara doesn't mind in the slightest.

Because by association, they now were. Especially Millium.

(Millium) "REEAAAN! Mom and dad are fighting!"

(Sara) "Because your father isn't giving me the drink I've earned!"

(S/O) "Why are you going along with being called that?!"

(Sara) "Psh, what? You rather I let you call me mommy-"

(Rean) "OKAY-Not dealing with that. Just drink later, Sara..."

I'll admit I'm a little curious, who did you end up choosing to romance in CS4?

Also, have you seen this before at all? (No, Crow, Vivi, Rosine and Claire are not in there)

I am very much about Rean x Laura since CS1 and 2, so she was my choice. I just felt that she and Rean had the best chemistry back when I was going through CS1 and 2 due to having major common ground in their interest in swordsmanship and their similar personalities and that stuck, especially their Bonding Events in CS4.

But she did have some strong competition from the options, that being:

Fie (I just really love all of her Bonding Events in all of the games with how she just opens up to Rean, which makes her developing feelings for Rean understandable and really sweet),

Sara (I wasn’t 100% onboard in CS1 and 2 but her and Rean’s interactions and Bonding Events in CS3 and 4 really convinced me of their chemistry as a potential couple and that Sara really developed feelings for Rean now that they’re equals and no longer teacher and student),

Towa (just all of their Bonding Events in all 4 games are really sweet together),

Emma (for their Events in 2, 3 and 4, because I was a bit biased towards Emma when I was going through 1 because I thought she knew the full picture of what the hell was going on in 1 but didn’t tell anyone which frustrated me but in 2 it was explained that she only knew about the Old Schoolhouse being a trial to become Valimar’s Awakener and it would not have mattered if she told us or not which got rid of my frustration)

And Juna (admittedly she was frustrating at times in 3 but I found it understandable considering what happened to Crossbell, the SSS and her backstory for being kicked out of the Crossbell police academy for speaking out against that Erebonian instructor smearing the SSS, but her Bonding Events in 4 where she was slowly coming to realise that she has in fact fallen in love with Rean was really cute to, student-teacher thing aside)

Plus, I know she isn’t a romance option, but I just really love Rean and Claire’s whole relationship throughout all 4 games, that scene of meeting in the bar in 1, 2 establishing that whole using Rean as replacement for her little brother in their Bonding Event, how their interactions became awkward at the end of 2 and throughout 3 transitioning Claire to no longer view Rean as a replacement for her younger brother and their very complicated relationship in 4 where they are enemies because Claire is sided with Osborne but they still very much care for each other.

Plus, I found Rean’s interactions with Rosine really cute too.

My Rean x Sara headcannons

I finished my 2nd playthroughs of the entire Trails of Cold Steel series recently and mannn do I just wish the romance endings had more meat on the bone.

Naturally, I read ALL the Rean x Sara fanfic on AO3 and realized how different others visualized their relationship. The main being the variations of possessiveness. So I wanted to share my HCs to the other like 10 RxS Tumblr blogs 😋

HC: They mutually respect each other as individuals first and foremost. They take on a more professional approach for all serious situations. Compared to the rest of their allies (minus Fie) they're consistently helping people. Most of class vii pretty much normal jobs but Rean is still out there taking care of people's safety non-stop. Rean is essentially a bracer as well in that sense.

How does Sara react to all the girls fawning over Rean? She finds it amusing. "Ha! All these girls don't stand a chance. Rean doesn't even notice their feelings or react to their flirting. But I can make that man blush and feel bashful whenever I want to. They don't even notice that he only has eyes for me. Such silly girls.." Sara and Rean are completely confident and secure about their relationship.

When I got confessions scenes during my playthroughs, most of them Rean was just like "??? Huh what do they mean? I'm lost. I need a dictionary to understand what they just said."

But both times when Sara confesses to him, he immediately reacts, almost like "woah! Holy shit, did she just kiss me on the cheek?! Am I dreaming?! uwu!!"

Sara's bonding events in CSIV really hit me too and how much she trusts Rean by letting him in and opening up about her dad. When they go to his grave and even make plans to visit North Amberia.. so he can tell him that he's taking care of Sara?! 😭 100% trust, respect and love for one another.

They do hide their relationship only because they don't want to distract others from the tasks at hand. They however do little things when shit is about to hit the fan, like reassuring hand squeezes when no one is looking or just little nods to each other as if to silently say "We're coming back alive and safe. We're not going to lose each other. I love you"

I also like to think that after his class vii graduates he joins the bracer guild and they kick ass together, happily ever after.

Oh yeah and they adopt Altina because not only is Altina fond of Rean but she was also in North Amberia with Rean and Sara. I'm sure Sara became fond of Altina as well for helping keep her home country safe.
